Well, it's June now. We're still out of school, but the education department just announced that the students would still be taking their regional exams (that would have been last week had things been normal) at home. We could print them for local students, they could be sent out via whatsapp or email and printed by the students, or they could pick them up from any public high school. We'll see how this goes and how many we get back. It seems a little crazy to me, but at least the education department is trying. I spent a while printing several sets of exams to be taken up to the kids in Monduli Juu, where most don't have internet and there are no stationery shops to print anything at. I took some photos driving around Monduli running errands today. I don't have that many photos of Monduli itself because it's always weird to take pictures of your own home, but I know I'll want to have them someday and that you all might like to see more photos of my town, so I took the opportunity of having the car (it's less weird to take photos from inside a car where most people can't tell what you're doing) to take a few. Above is Tropicanal Bar, a local restaurant that I like. They have chipsi mayai (french fry omelets), roast chicken, and mishikaki (beef on a stick).
Above: the street that runs from the farmer's market to the bus stand. There's a stationery shop on the right side that I stop at a lot. Below: Looking the opposite direction on the same street.
Above: looking down Lowassa Road, one of the main shopping streets of Monduli, and the only street that seems to have a name.

Below: The road from the shopping area of town up past the police station to the hospital. There is a big open field in the middle that is often used for soccer games or community events, and the roads on both sides are lined with Jacaranda trees. They are covered in pale purple flowers at some times of the year.
