After all my posts about the progress of the belltower, today is finally the day! The bell is going up! Now, it's not actually that easy to get a solid iron bell that weighs several hundred pounds up there without any kind of hydraulic lift or fork lift. It took a pulley, several men, a lot of shouting, and several of us standing around watching helpfully.
I took several videos of the proceedings, but most of them are too long to load here and probably boring anyhow, but here is one in which you can hear the sound of the new bell:
