About noon we arrived at Bamboo Island. The island is a national park. It has a wide sandy beach, with logs of shells and broken pieces of coral to poke through. In the center is a forest of mostly pine trees and, of course, a large stand of bamboo.
We spent an hour on the island. I carried my snorkeling gear because I thought I might swim a bit, but in the end it was just something clunky to keep up with as I spent the whole time walking on the beach taking pictures.
Once we got back on the boat we were given our lunch-a styrofoam tray of fried rice with chicken. It wasn't very spicy, but it was pretty good. A second styrofoam tray held pieces of watermelon.
