The whole time I was taking pictures of the gigantic reclining Buddha, I could hear an irregular metallic clicking noise.
Once I rounded the feet of the Buddha and walked around behind I realized what it was. I had read somewhere that there are 108 characteristics of the Buddha. Along the wall were 108 donation pots; devoted Buddhists (and a
few bored tourists) will go along dropping a penny (well, the Thai equivalent, I'm too tired to go look up what that would be right now) into each one. So, that's what that clinking noise was.
